Backblaze Blog » What Hard Drive Should I Buy? »

I’ve long purchased WD and Hitachi drives, and have never had one fail on me - knock on wood. I have a few that are at least 4 years old, still humming away - don’t worry, every bit of data I have is backed up to at least one other location.

I can only think of 2 Seagate drives I’ve ever owned: 1 is a 320gb 2.5” portable drive that I rarely use. The 2nd was a 1TB 3.5” internal drive in my 2010 iMac that failed inside 2 years of use.
